Valletta and the Sunday Market.
From the Radisson Hotel we booked the courtesy bus to Valletta  were you are dropped off by the Upper Barrakka Gardens. The gardens themselves are spectacular and give panoramic views of the Grand Harbour; also there a small café bar. All of these are shown in the photographs and well worth a visit.
During the week, Republic Street is the main shopping street in Valletta, it runs from the City Gate downhill to near Fort St Elmo at the tip of the peninsula.  Sections of Republic Street are often closed to traffic to accommodate the mass of tourists and shoppers particularly through the summer months. The squares just off Republic Street are extremely popular places for outside cafes, restaurants and bars which are highly recommended after a morning’s shopping.

Sunday Market.
This is held outside Valletta’s city walls as seen in the photos, in front of St. James Bastion & St. James Counter Guard at the bottom side of the bus station, this is the largest market in Malta and quite interesting to have a look around.
During the week there is also an open air market down Market Street and by the palace, both outdoor markets sell the usual merchandise found in markets worldwide, but if you are looking for a bargain amongst all the brick-a-brac you should get there early and bargain hard, do remember to look out for fakes as well as seconds.
There are additional Sunday morning markets in the fishing village of Marsaxlokk in the southwest of Malta and the IT-Tokk market in Victoria in the centre of Gozo.

Bugibba & Qawra.
Bubbly and lively Bugibba and the slightly quieter Qawra are two of the island's larger tourist resorts, both are geared up essentially for the package tourism market, which means there are plenty of shops, bars, cafes and a good selection of restaurants, all at reasonable prices. There is also a good amount of night life in Bugibba, where Qawra is a little quieter by night, both resorts offer good day time activities of lidos, boat trips and water sports right on the front in St.Paul’s Bay. There is also a classic car museum in Qawar, well worth a visit.
